New York, New York,(PRWEB) April 22, 2004 Â Liposuction was the top plastic surgery procedure in 2003 with 384,626 procedures performed in the U.S. up from 176,863 in 1997 a 117% increase, according to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells in areas such as the abdomen, waist, chest, hips, thighs and chin. The most popular liposuction procedure performed on men are the “love handles,” and for women it’s “saddlebags” or the “tummy pouch.”
Traditional liposuction techniques for body contouring have included superwet liposuction, tumescent liposuction, and power assisted liposuction. These liposuction procedures do provide a permanent and immediate solution to eliminate stubborn unwanted fat deposits but do have limitations. So, when a new device for ultrasonic liposuction hit the market, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS, (one of New YorkÂs most popular plastic surgeons) immediately incorporated the technique into his practice. ÂI make every effort to provide my patients with the latest technologies and cutting-edge techniques. I noticed that the Vaser technique resulted in substantially less bruising and faster recovery. I wanted to offer my patients the best treatment in New York, remarks Dr. Senderoff.
The latest liposuction device is called ÂThe Vaser  and was developed by Sound Surgical Technologies LLC – the world leader in innovative ultrasonic technologies for aesthetic surgery. The Vaser selectively targets fat by using ultrasound energy while preserving structures such as blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. With Vaser liposuction patients experience much less pain during the procedure and experience less bruising and soreness postoperatively. The fat is removed more efficiently than with conventional liposuction because it is emulsified or turned into a liquid by the ultrasound before it is suctioned. ÂMy patients are thrilled with Vaser Liposuction. The procedure is gentler and the recovery is quicker. In my opinion, Vaser liposuction will eventually become the industry standard, notes Dr. Senderoff.

Visit our website: www.peaksurgical.com The PlasmaBlade provides plastic/reconstructive surgeons with a single tissue dissection device that offers several features and benefits: •It quickly and easily cuts through all types of tissue, including skin, fat and muscle, and dissects in a wet or dry surgical field. •It allows for viable healthy tissue flaps to be raised and/or transferred. •It provides the same positive wound healing profile of minimal scarring and inflammation as a scalpel but with 60 percent less bleeding. •It provides 65 percent greater skin incision wound strength at six weeks than traditional electrosurgery. •It results in 60 percent less scar tissue formation at six weeks than traditional electrosurgery, which is associated with improved cosmesis compared with traditional electrosurgery. •It eliminates the need to switch between a scalpel and a traditional electrosurgery or cautery device, improving workflow efficiency and reducing the chance for sharps injuries or burns. •Because of the lower temperature and minimal tissue charring associated with the PlasmaBlade, it avoids the problems of surgical smoke associated with traditional electrosurgery, which can obscure the operating field in the pocket. •Because it is associated with reduced injury to adjacent tissues, the PlasmaBlade can be used safely near delicate structures such as nerves (in facelifts and hand operations) and blood vessels (in hand operations and in free tissue transfers). •It may …
Summary: With the increasing application of liposuction in reconstructive surgery of the head and neck region and aesthetic plastic surgery of the facial region, autologous fat transplantation is widely used. However, due to the high absorption rate of fat grafts, a number of studies have examined the use of different agents to increase the viability of such grafts. Here, we evaluated the effects of a new transfer medium containing insulin and β-fibroblast growth factor, which can increase the viability of fat grafts before performing autologous fat transplantation. Twenty-four New Zealand white rabbits were used in this study. For each rabbit, we harvested 4mg of fat from both inguinal regions. The samples from each rabbit were pooled, divided into four equal aliquots and then soaked in … Source: MedWorm: Liposuction
Summary: Treatment of hemifacial atrophy presents a challenge for reconstructive surgeons. Previous studies have described numerous methods for the correction of facial asymmetry. We present our experience with treatment of hemifacial atrophy using a microsurgical anterolateral thigh adipofascial flap procedure and other adjunctive measures. This method is similar to that used for the free anterolateral thigh flap, but only the deep fascia of the anterolateral thigh and subcutaneous fatty tissue above the fascia were harvested. This flap procedure was used in 32 patients with moderate or severe hemifacial atrophy. In the first stage, the anterolateral thigh adipofascial flap procedure was used in all the patients, of whom eight accepted a porous polyethylene implant along with the anterol… Source: MedWorm: Liposuction

Conclusion The VASER is safe and effective for treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis/bromidrosis. The method is minimally invasive with
immediate return to basic activities and only temporary minor restriction of arm movement. At 6 months the treatment appears
to be long-lasting, but further follow-up is required for verification of permanence. This method has become the standard
of care for the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis/bromidrosis in the authorsâ practice.

Abstract A new liposuction technology for adipocyte lipolysis and uniform three-dimensional tissue heating and contraction is presented.
The technology is based on bipolar radiofrequency energy applied to the subcutaneous adipose tissue and subdermal skin surface.
Preliminary clinical results, thermal monitoring, and histologic biopsies of the treated tissue demonstrate rapid preaspiration
liquefaction of adipose tissue, coagulation of subcutaneous blood vessels, and uniform sustained heating of tissue.
