Conclusion: Based on the theory of cell survival stating the importance of adipocytes’ integrity for graft survival and the theory claiming the importance of regenerative MSCs in the maintenance and stabilisation of fat transplant, washing may turn out to be the best processing technique for adipose tissue graft take. While eliminating most contaminants during the process, it preserved and maintained the quantity, integrity and viability of the most important components of aspirated adipose tissue. Bioheart, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BHRT) announced that treatment with stem cell therapy on two congestive heart failure (CHF) patients was performed successfully at the Hospital Angeles Tijuana, Mexico, through Bioheart’s Center of Excellence program with Regenerative Medicine Institute. The therapy employed stem cells derived from the patient’s own fat (adipose tissue) obtained using liposuction. Stem cells were separated from the adipose tissue utilizing the fully-automated TGI 1200 Cell Isolation System. The separation process takes about an hour… (Source: Health News from Medical News Today)

CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that the hASCs grow well in vitro and could be induced to osteoblastic differentiate. hASCs can serve as a seeding cell source for bone engineering.

In this study, we sought to determine the effect of donor age on the growth kinetics and differentiation potential of ASCs. For this, ASCs were isolated from liposuctioned adipose tissue obtained from female patients in the age range 20-58 years. Population doubling time was calculated over 2 weeks and differentiation potential was determined by assaying for adipogenesis and osteogenesis. ASCs obtained from older donors appeared to have a slower rate of proliferation, but this relationship was not significant. While adipogenic potential was unrelated to donor age, a distinct relationship between donor age and osteogenic potential was observed. The aetiology of this age-dependent change in osteogenic potential was not due to any changes in the number of precursors with osteogenic capacity i… Source: MedWorm: Liposuction
