Summary: Treatment of hemifacial atrophy presents a challenge for reconstructive surgeons. Previous studies have described numerous methods for the correction of facial asymmetry. We present our experience with treatment of hemifacial atrophy using a microsurgical anterolateral thigh adipofascial flap procedure and other adjunctive measures. This method is similar to that used for the free anterolateral thigh flap, but only the deep fascia of the anterolateral thigh and subcutaneous fatty tissue above the fascia were harvested. This flap procedure was used in 32 patients with moderate or severe hemifacial atrophy. In the first stage, the anterolateral thigh adipofascial flap procedure was used in all the patients, of whom eight accepted a porous polyethylene implant along with the anterol…

Conclusion While DIEP flap surgery for breast reconstruction provides favorable results, patients frequently require additional procedures
to improve aesthetic outcomes. The need for reoperation is an important part of the consent process prior to reconstructive
surgery, and patients should recognize the likelihood of at least one additional procedure following initial reconstruction.

Abstract Abdominoplasty is a very common procedure, especially for patients with abdominal laxness, striaes, and muscle rectus diastases.
With the advent of liposuction 28 years ago, we can improve body contouring by treating lipodystrophies in the epigastric,
flank, trochanteric, and buttocks areas. The procedure combining abdominoplasty and liposuction is called lipoabdominoplasty.
Many new techniques have been proposed since these procedures were introduced; we now revisit the superior pull-down abdominal
flap technique with several new modifications and improvements.

J reconstr MicrosurgDOI: 10.1055/s-0030-1248234ABSTRACTThe popularity of the groin flap has gradually decreased because of the disadvantages related to its short pedicle and technically demanding harvesting. We have summarized our experience with free groin flap applications in the pediatric population, which were performed by the same surgeon between 2004 and 2007. A total of 10 free groin flap transfers were performed in patients aged 3 to 13 years. Nine of the patients were operated on because of contractures of the extremities (six lower, three upper), and one patient was operated on for facial contour augmentation. The total duration of the operation was estimated to be between 2.6 and 6.1 hours (mean: 4.1 hours). A revision of the anastomosis was performed in two patients (20%), and …
