Conclusion: Based on the theory of cell survival stating the importance of adipocytes’ integrity for graft survival and the theory claiming the importance of regenerative MSCs in the maintenance and stabilisation of fat transplant, washing may turn out to be the best processing technique for adipose tissue graft take. While eliminating most contaminants during the process, it preserved and maintained the quantity, integrity and viability of the most important components of aspirated adipose tissue. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that the hASCs grow well in vitro and could be induced to osteoblastic differentiate. hASCs can serve as a seeding cell source for bone engineering.

Adipose tissue is the standard autologous filling material used in plastic surgery today. At the same time it is also a source of mesenchymal stem cells, situated in the Stromal-Vascular Fraction (SVF) and easy to obtain in large quantities. The method of harvesting adipose tissue is an important stage for cell survival. So far, comparative studies on harvesting techniques have only concerned MTT cell viability of mature adipocytes. The aim of our study was to determine the influence of pressure on the yield of SVF cells in relation to the syringe aspiration technique which is the standard technique in plastic surgery. For this, six different harvesting conditions were tested on 3 patients. For each condition, a sample was … Source: MedWorm: Liposuction

HIV-related facial atrophy is a common complication due to antiretroviral treatment. The social handicap due to this lipodystrophy increase the demand of surgical correction. The usual treatment is the Lipostructure((R)) described by Coleman. The hypertrophy is one of the complications which can occur after a correction by Lipostructure((R)). This complication is different from the overcorrection by the free time before his appearance. The treatment by liposuction is possible but there is a high risk of recurrence. The best treatment, after the literature review, seems to be the direct excision.

Conclusions:
Trehalose as a CPA with a concentration of 0.35 mol/L appears to provide the optimal protection of adipose aspirates during cryopreservation. Further in vivo study will be needed to confirm these findings. (Source: Aesthetic Surgery Journal) Source: MedWorm: Liposuction

Excess fat poses important medical, aesthetic and psychological problems for a considerable portion of
the population. Consequently, numerous solutions for removing it have been explored. Liposuction was the most
popular surgical cosmetic procedure performed in 2007, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic
Surgery. (Source: Modern Medicine) Source: MedWorm: Liposuction

Abstract  A new liposuction technology for adipocyte lipolysis and uniform three-dimensional tissue heating and contraction is presented.
The technology is based on bipolar radiofrequency energy applied to the subcutaneous adipose tissue and subdermal skin surface.
Preliminary clinical results, thermal monitoring, and histologic biopsies of the treated tissue demonstrate rapid preaspiration
liquefaction of adipose tissue, coagulation of subcutaneous blood vessels, and uniform sustained heating of tissue.

CONCLUSION: Our studies demonstrated that these persistent organic pollutants and some heavy metals may have correlations with UL, and their accumulation in the body is positively correlated with seafood diet habit, body mass index, and age. In the patient group, higher levels of persistent organic pollutants and some heavy metals were found in visceral fat than in subcutaneous fat confirming the long-held belief that visceral fat is more pernicious and pathogenic than subcutaneous fat. RECOMMENDATIONS AND PERSPECTIVES: It is recommended that women minimize their exposure to environmental pollutants as much as possible which includes consuming certain seafoods in moderation, such as fatty fish, carnivorous fish (tuna and swordfish), and shellfish which are known to concentrate POPs and hea… Source: MedWorm: Liposuction

Excess weight, one of the major components of cardiometabolic disorders, can be managed by liposuction
to remove excess adipose tissue. Here’s what to say when patients ask whether liposuction will improve their lipid
profiles and blood glucose levels. (Source: Modern Medicine) Source: MedWorm: Liposuction

Abstract: Breast enhancement with artificial implants is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgeries but is associated with various complications, such as capsular contracture, that lead to implant removal or replacement at a relatively high rate. For replacement, we used transplantation of progenitor-supplemented adipose tissue (cell-assisted lipotransfer; CAL) in 15 patients. The stromal vascular fraction containing adipose tissue progenitor cells obtained from liposuction aspirates was used to enrich for progenitor cells in the graft. Overall, clinical results were very satisfactory, and no major abnormalities were seen on magnetic resonance imaging or mammogram after 12 months. Postoperative atrophy of injected fat was minimal and did not change substantially after 2 months… Source: MedWorm: Liposuction
